I can’t believe how dark it has gotten in the mornings! I know that this happens every year at about the same time, but it always seems to sneak up on me. Does that happen to everyone? It’s going to get really crazy next week as clocks change on Saturday night.
Once the sun is up, it looks like another beautiful fall day here. I actually had the back door open here at the shop yesterday with just the screen door, and all that lovely warm air. Soup today is homemade creamy chicken and artichoke.
That big bright shining ball in the sky is the sun!! I haven’t seen it for so long! It is a beautiful day here in Door County! It’s a bright shiny fall day and it’s perfect for Hot Apple Cider. We’ve got the delicious Door County kind too. It’s even better with caramel and topped with whipped cream. Today’s soup is Cream of Carrot. A personal favorite! See you soon!
Don’t forget, five more days until our closing for November. Check right here for updates from Kunming and Dali, China during the first few weeks of November.
Good Morning all! It always seems like the weekend goes too quickly, no? Well, if you haven’t heard, let me shout it from the rooftops: THE ESPRESSO MACHINE IS FIXED!!!!
That was an ugly week with out it.
Exciting news: GIbraltar Football is headed to the PLAYOFFS!!!!!!! Woooo hoooo! In a heck of an exciting game last night, the Gibraltar Vikings beat the Reedsville Panthers 36-26. It was really a nail biter.
Unrelated Exciting news: The heat element for the espresso machine is scheduled to arrive today. Nothing like overnight shipping taking three days! So, if not this afternoon, DEFINITELY tomorrow morning we will be back up to speed.
Soup today is White Bean Turkey Chili. Homemade by the Top Shelf. Come and get it before I eat it all myself!
Hello again. It’s a bit of a yucky day here. It’s drizzly and cool and the perfect day for a nice hot Door County Apple Cider!
We also have White Bean Turkey Chili. It’s homemade and it smelled so good that I decided to have some for breakfast.
LAST CALL for awesome 2009 Drink Coffee T-Shirts! We’ve got the Pumpkin Pie in a Cup shirts for ONLY $5.50 and the Drink Coffee embroidered tees for $11.50.
It’s homecoming here in Northern Door County this week. Tonight is the football game at 7pm. Watch the Vikings take on Algoma. A win could make Gibraltar play-off eligible. Very exciting.
I have been watching the weather for next weekend like a hawk because of Fall Festival. I am constantly struggling with Pumpkin Pie for the masses. How much to order? How much to order? I’m getting better at the actual pie. It was the whipped cream that ended up woefully under-ordered last year. So, I will be weighing whipped cream portions this morning and crunching numbers.
The HOLIDAY COOKIE SITE IS UP!! You probably got to the blog by visiting the website, so go back, and click on the order cookies link. At the top of the page, there is a text link to the holiday cookie page! Check it out because if I say so myself, they are really pretty.
Soup is Chicken Coconut Curry.
Really there’s no excuse, but here I am after a LOOOONG blogging hiatus. This is where it gets good though readers. Because NOW, we have things to talk about.
For instance, we’ve got Fall Festival coming up in just seven days. (Oh my. You put it like that and I want to run into the kitchen and bake until all hours! Yikes!) Anyway, I am perfectly calm and ready. We will, as always, be doing our famous Pumpkin Pie in a Cup. For the unititiated, that is warm delicious pumpkin pie served up in a cup with whipped cream on top. We will also be featuring our lovely, wonderful, friendly, beautiful Iowa contingency of pie scoopers! Hooray. We really couldn’t do it without them. We will start serving on Friday, October 15th at 9AM. DON’T miss it!
Soup today is Old Fashioned Turkey Noodle.
Also, I have to give a shout out to Mr. Brotherhood. I hope he’s reading.
