We are back in Shanghai after a cold and wet trip to Suzhou.  It literally began to rain as we stepped off the train.  It is going to be a chilly few days here in Shanghai and then it’s home on Wednesday.  Tomorrow we are going to the Shanghai Art museum and the Chinese Propaganda museum. Very exciting.  I found my little rooster for the shop yesterday!

This is such a special place.  We are having a wonderful last day in Xizhou.  This morning we went into the big city of Dali and then after lunch I got to return to the kindergarten to play with the kids.  It was SOOO fun.  They are just adorable.

The Center is beautiful.  I really have a feel for rural China now.  The weather here is year round perfect.  If it weren’t for Thanksgiving coming up, I don’t think I’d come home.

Tomorrow we head back to Shanghai.  Nellie will pick us up at the airport and we will stay with her tomorrow night.  On sunday, we will go to the town of Xuzhou by train.  We will stay the night there.  I’m not sure if I’ll be able to update there.  Take care all and see you soon!

Hello again.  It’s time for just a quick update as there is a line of people waiting to use the computer.  WE had another VERY full and wonderful day today.  This morning we went to a local home and learned how they make cow’s milk cheese which is then served with sugar, sold at market, or fried at home.

After that we went to a market close by and a kindergarten. At the school, the children did some songs and dancing for us.  Then WE had to do some songs and dancing too.  Our group decided to sing I’m a little tea pot and also Head and shoulders, knees and toes.  The principal invited me to come back another day at the end of the week and talk with the kids in English.  They were SO cute.  I was taking pictures and then they realized what was going on so they wanted to see themselves in the camera and then they wanted to make funny faces and touch the camera and take pictures of each other.  What a great time!  I am going back on Thursday and I can’t wait!

Tomorrow we are off to UNESCO world heritage site Lijiang.  We will be high in the Himalayas at 8000ft.  I have been taking so many beatiful pictures and I’ve had so many fun things you woulndn’t believe.  When we went to the Yunnan culinary school, all the of the students were lined up outside in their chef’s whites to greet us.  They played music and the kids clapped.  There was a giant welcoming banner and RED CARPET.  It was unreal.

Hope all is well.  and if you see matt, tell him to email for goodness sake.

Nihao

Nihao from Xizhou, China.  That means Hello from Xizhou (She-joe).  Hope everyone is well.

It has been quite a whirlwind few days here.  It’s Saturday evening now and we are having a rest before dinner.  It’s 6:28am where you are.  So I just have to get in there: GO HAWKEYES!  I hope they win!

Okay so back to business.  I got to Green Bay and found a room!  Which was no small task because of the game.  Got onto the plane and to Detroit and had a text from my mom that her flight was cancelled.  Yikes!  So I spent the next 13 and a half hours on the plane by myself.

Oops.  Time to eat.  More soon.  I promise.

Take care all!
