Soup today is the ever popular Cream of Carrot.  It’s a perfect day for a grilled cheese and soup!  This gray day is going to make the flowers and grass and trees soo happy.

Fun coffee fact:  It’s the time of year when Central American coffees are between crops.  Soo, we are using up some Organic Fair Trade Nicaraguan while we wait for our favorite Guats and Bolivians to have a new season.  Come in and try it.  It’s a nice earthy blend.

Also, I am running the Door County Half Marathon for the Wellness Center.  The deadline for donations is coming up!  If you’d like to donate, please drop it at the shop or email me!  Thanks!

Comfort Food

When I was at Simpson College, my voice teacher used to make us do an exercise on days like today.  You would say, a la Julia Child, “It’s a gray, gray, daayyyy”  While it’s great for the vocal chords to be warmed up in this way, it’s even better for the soul.  Try it.  It’s funny.

The flowers need the rain today and you, you need some Tomato soup and our famous Grilled Tomato and Cheese sandwich.  What could be better?

We seemed to have dodged a weather bullet here!  It is another BEAUTIFUL day in Door County.  Soup today is the famous and favorite Asiago Cheese Bisque.

If you didn’t know yet, I am running the Door County Half Marathon in order to raise money for the Wellness Center of Door County.  The clinic provides basic health care for both insured and uninsured patients.  They are also quite possibly the kindest most compassionate people on the planet.  Email me at rachel@cookieladyonline if you would like to donate!  Thank you!

Easter is hopping in on us this weekend!  Don’t forget to order your beautiful homemade sugar cookies by the Cookie Lady.  We also have pretty baskets!  You can personalize the cookies or baskets as well.

Soup today is Corn Chowder with Cilantro.  It is light and delicious!

Thai Beef is quite possibly the perfect soup for today.  It is COLD again and over cast and some hearty beef soup with a little kick is just what the doctor ordered.

Come check out our fabulous new view.  It is such a difference with the old Walkaway shops gone.  Soon it will be a nice grassy place to put out a blanket and have a Drink Coffee picnic lunch.

Easter is Sunday.  Don’t forget to order your cookies now!!

Monday

March 22nd, 2010

Good morning!  It is so sunny and nice today!  A bit chilly though.  I am coming around to this whole daylight savings time thing.  At night, it seems to fly by because it’s still light out and in the morning I am dragging because it’s dark!  I’ll get it though. I will.

Soup today is Cream of Spinach.  It is delicious!!

Saturday

March 6th, 2010

It’s been sooo lovely the past two mornings of SUNSHINE when I wake up!  What a nice treat.  It’s funny though because I feel like I’m running late.  I’m getting pretty excited for daylight savings time when I can have that feeling at night too.

Soup today is Cream of Asparagus.

We’re Back!

March 5th, 2010

My apologies!  I just realized I didn’t mention on my last post that I would be taking a blogging break!  Tsk.

Today, Friday, March 5, we are back open our regular Winter Hours.  Mon-Sat 7AM-3PM.  Come in and keep me company.  It is a BEAUTIFUL day in the county.  The sun is shining and the snow is melting and it’s LIGHT out in the morning.

Annie is bringing delicious soup today.  I’ll update later with the type.
